The thermal efficiency of the homes at Steenberg’s Yard are an significant improvement on the performance required by current Building Regulations, reducing carbon emissions to the environment and reducing energy cost for home owners. This development also includes triple glazed windows and insulated doors.
Heating is by A rated combination gas boiler with 2 heating zones, wireless thermostat and 7 day programmer. Electric induction hobs and appliances are A rated, all lighting is LED and energy display devices for gas and electrical consumption all help you fine tune your energy usage in line with your lifestyle.

Transport & Waste Disposal

Sustainable travel made easy with a shared lockable bike store and each parking space has access to EV charging.

Construction waste has been kept to a minimum and construction materials have been chosen to strike the right balance between lightness of construction, embodied carbon and appropriateness for the character and heritage of the Conservation Area. At the half-way point in construction 98.8% of construction waste on site is being recycled or repurposed. Each kitchen also provides integrated, compartmented recycle bins allowing you to effortlessly sort and manage your own recyclables.


The Ouseburn ecosystem has been considered at every step. By working with an ecologist we have created new habitats amongst planted riverside gabion baskets and bird boxes, bat tubes and nesting cups can be found throughout the site.

Our diverse planting scheme introduces around 30 native species of trees bushes and plants,  providing important food sources for birds and other wildlife and the lighting has been carefully designed and tuned for intensity and colour to reduce impact on birds and bats.
